The Hint-Line

• Clean rust stains off almost any surface by dipping a peeled potato in baking soda or salt and rubbing it into the stain.

• If you’re having trouble pushing a needle through a thick layer of fabric, lubricate it by stabbing it in a bar of soap.

• Protect your fragile china and crystal while washing it: place a thick, folded towel in the bottom of the sink.

• Ballpoint ink marks on your carpet? Saturate the spot with hairspray. Allow to dry, brush lightly with a solution of water and vinegar.

• Keep a screwdriver tip from slipping by putting chalk on the blade.

• Use clear cement glue to repair a small hole in wire screening.

• Geraniums like to be fertilized with rinsed coffee grounds once in a while.

• Place dead paint brushes in a pot of vinegar on the stove and simmer. This will bring those paint brushes back to life.

• Use denture tablet to clean the toilet.

• The least expensive fridge deodorizer – two charcoal briquettes.

• Normal humidity can shorten the life of sandpaper. Store in zip-lock plastic bags or in sealed plastic containers.
