President of Oaktree Engineering Ltd. and Property Inspection Network Ltd. Companies have completed over 60,000 inspections, energy audits, investigations and studies since 1987 for residential and commercial properties.
Mr. Bottriell has completed over 12,000 inspections and investigations. Work includes the evaluation of building envelope, electrical, mechanical, plumbing and finish systems. Other work includes engineering studies and contracts, reserve funds, property condition assessments, expert witness reports, Phase 1 studies, training development and implementation, presentations.
PIN Ltd. started with the energy audit program and energuide labeling in 2004. We have completed over 5000 audits. Mr. Bottriell has been the Trainer and QA since 2004 for 12 EA’s working for Property Inspection Network. PIN did some work on MURB’s and Mr. Bottriell provided training for this program.
Clients have included: Tarion, City of Ottawa, National Capital Commission, Natural Resources Canada, Carleton Condominium Corporations (most recent CCC#38 roof and window contracts and CCC#750 roof contract), private owners, property managers, mortgage brokers, lawyers, real estate agents, and insurance companies.

Experience
Mr. Charron has served the Canadian Military both as a military and as a civilian. He graduated from the Royal Military College of Canada (RMC) and also retired from the military in 1992. As a military, Mr. Charron was, among other things, part of a group investigating the environmental condition of CFB Lahr in Germany before the Canadian government was to return the land to Germany. Following his military years, Mr. Charron continued to serve the Canadian Forces as a civilian doing research in the structural engineering laboratory at RMC. During those years, he was published numerous times both as an author and a co-author in engineering publications such as The Canadian Journal of Civil Engineering. Following his findings in a research project, he was instrumental in having part of the Canadian Wood Design manual changed to better reflect the compressive properties of wood in construction.
As a member of Property Inspection Network, Ltd, Mr. Charron is a building science expert and specializes in “Pre-purchase home inspections”, “Infrared Thermography”, “Flat Roof Investigations”, “Engineering Assesments” and “Home energy audits”. Mr. Charron has now completed over 7000 inspections, infrared investigations, engineering assesments and energy audits in Eastern Ontario and Western Quebec assessing structures, mechanical systems, insulation, interior and exterior finishes, roofing, chimneys, and building envelope.
Mr. Charron has presented the findings of a thermography investigation done for a large condominium corporation at the 2012 annual InfraMation conference in Orlando. His work on that project allowed the corporation with a limited budget to prioritize its roof replacement schedule and meet its obligations to the unit owners.
The infrared camera used by Mr. Charron during his thermography investigations is a FLIR B-250.

Experience
Member of Property Inspection Network Limited. Previously general contractor involved in residential construction and renovations. Work for various insurance companies focused on assessment of replacement value and liability analysis. Inspections focus on assessing the structure as a whole system, roofing, chimneys, electrical and mechanical systems, insulation, exterior/interior finishes, and the general building envelope. Elements also considered are radon gas, indoor air quality, energy efficiency and electromagnetic fields.
WETT inspections focus on the safety of the wood burning system (fireplace or wood appliance and chimney) installation. Many insurance companies require a WETT certified inspection report.
Infrared inspections can detect missing insulation, moisture infiltration, air leaks, and more. Roof inspections for flat roofs can identify specific locations that need repair without entire roof replacement.
Other experience includes project management, quality control, customer service, training, documentation, and requirements definition. In our community, Ted’s experience also includes president of cottage association, treasurer/member of board of directors for hockey association, and various roles as coach and/or official in minor hockey and baseball.
